 Kargil Vijay Diwas through out the country to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan at Kargil (J & K) in 1999.
We salute the Kargil War Heros and Martyres who laid down their lives for the sake of our motherland. The Kargil War was fought for more than 60 days during May – July in harsh weather conditions which ended on July 26th 1999.
On this day India took control over all the positions occupied by Pakistani Army.
527 Indian soldiers sacrificed their lives and made Operation Vijaya success.

Let us take few moments to remember the supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers. Read the story of Lt.Saurabh Kalia and his five member team who were captured by Pakistani intruders in Kargil. Their mutilated dead bodies were returned to India after torturing them for almost 22 days.

Senior Army officers, war veterans and widows of soldiers who were killed in the Kargil battle offered floral tributes at war memorials in Drass and New Delhi in honour of the 13th anniversary of victory in the 1999 war. The Kargil war– which began in May 1999– lasted for more than two months before Pakistan soldiers, withdrew from the mountain tops it had occupied, overlooking the Srinagar-Leh highway. In the battle with the Pakistani forces, the Indian Army lost more than 500 officers and soldiers, many of whom were posthumously given gallantry awards.
